The troubles with chatsociety have been annoying for quite some time now, and we decided to move to another network. You'll find us on irc.deltaanime.net from now on. We hope this will solve all problems.
- Kintaro |
| 03/27/2007 |
To connect to chatsociety use meia.ca.us.chatsociety.net's IP address, 72.20.35.209. Services are down, but at least the channel is there.
- Taran'li Maren As most of you can tell, chatsociety has been down for about a day or day and a half now. The website also had a bit of an outtage, although completely unrelated. We are figuring out what to do about chatsociety. Once we have decided, there will be information here. - Taran'li Maren |

Let's kick off the year 2007 with a new release. And to top it off, a complete release. All 12 episodes of Kannazuki no Miko. No, I'm not kidding. Enjoy!

My web host moved the site to a different server today, causing a bit of a problem with my php. As a result the web site was non-functional for maybe 10 hours. I have fixed it now so we're all good again.

Almost done with Starship Operators. Episodes 10 and 11 just released. Enjoy!

There's a v2 available of now and then, here and there ep1 because of the different samplerate of the audio tracks. If v1 works right for you don't bother regetting it.

Some more anime for the masses. Starship Operators 3+4 are out! Enjoy!

The playback pack has come one step closer to nirvana and is now available in a new version. It fixes problems with installing new vfw filters, b-frame lag and old versions of vsfilter in the system32 dir. It also removes the highly evil and redundant wmv9vcm. So get the Common Community Codec Pack and enjoy real inner peace.
- Myrsloik |
| 06/10/2005 |
News on the playback front. Some of you might have noticed already, others are now gasping in awe. There has been developed a Common Community Codec Pack (CCCP!!!11111oneoneeleven) to serve all kind of (reasonable) playback needs and with the goal of ending the evil reign of nimo, mms, etc that curses the anime community with playback liabilities and feed the huge breedings of noobs. CCCP's goal is to end this. NIRVANA: http://forum.zhentarim.net/viewtopic.php?t=239, also known as the pinned thread in the "Other" section of the forum

Time to get the AVC/h.264 encodes out. Here we have a nice little fansub project going: Starship Operators 1+2 to start with, working together with two fansub veterans: Deidryt, who initiated the project and is one of the best-known editors in the fansub world, and SCR512, one of the best typesetters. We'll try to catch up with the R2 DVD releases as quickly as possible. Enjoy!

So Kintaro finally decided to release the evil evil last episode of Mahoromatic Season 2: The unholy episode 14. Gainax be cursed! I can't even finish this news entry with the usual "Enjoy"...
- Mentar |
| 04/28/2005 |
EoE v3 released. Note that the file besides of being errorfree, now also has "h264" instead of "avc" as it ending. If you have the older file with the avc ending, you will probably want to get the fixed version. No patch will be available. And with greath weight behind it this time: Suffer!
- Rayek |
| 04/25/2005 |
Since there was some childsickness with EoE v2 and no patching possible cause of avc's IDR-frame madness, re-thwarting of DivX will happen on thursday instead. For plankton: re-release on thursday.
- Rayek |
| 04/22/2005 |
I shall thwart this divx ressurection within 48 hrs! HA! HA! HA! Suffer! (And this post counts against Myrsloiks posts in contradiction to earlyer posts targeting at outposting Mentar)
- Rayek |
| 04/21/2005 |
Mentar thought he could kill off divx but now it's back in the form of mahoromatic s2 ep12 v2 (patch exists). This shows that divx LIVES ON FOR EVER! (or at least another week)
- Myrsloik |
| 03/20/2005 |
Time to get the last good old divx encodes out before the new AVC/H.264 times begin. Kintaro brought us some new Mahoromatic Season 2, Episodes 10-13. Enjoy!

What follows is a poor attempt at creating pseudo news. The par2 guide has been rewritten and par2 files have been created for all new releases. This means that it's a good time to convert your friends from the evil ways of zidrav.
- Myrsloik |
| 01/13/2005 |
(Available now) Apparently there's a bigger error due to some creative cutting I did in the Christmas Special. Expect a v2 soon, a patch will also be provided if possible.
- Myrsloik |
| 01/10/2005 |
The last ep of Love Hina and the Christmas Special has been released. Lavc was used for encoding this time and while it should be somewhat divx compatible, xvid 1.1 or any other less broken decoder is recommended. Expect the Spring Special to be done next summer.

Almost everything should be restored now and some ancient pages were cleaned out too. The only remaining missing things are all forum avatars and the par2 guide. If you happen to have a copy of the par2 guide text email it to me (maincontact for information).
- Myrsloik As some of you may have noticed, our web site was defaced last night. We have restored the site from a partial backup, though the forums may be down for a while longer. Please be aware of this if you find broken pages. Hopefully everything will be back to normal by the end of the day. - Taran'li Maren |

We've finally changed from using a channel key to requiring registered nicks to keep most of the unwanted trash out. Type "/ns help register" if you have no idea how to register a nick. You can also expect more torrents once the slow leechers finish battle athletes victory.
- Myrsloik |
| 12/08/2004 |
Alright, next piece of the maybe-soon-complete eva renewal project is out; Death (True2).
This piece is the pinnackle of evilness; letterboxed source, lots, lots and lots of work needed on the subitles, so both I and Mentar busted our backs here. And this is just a 1hr recap of eps 1-24, so why we bothered is beyond me. Hopefully the 4 DC eps and the v2 of End isnt that far away either. Enjoy.
- Rayek |
| 12/03/2004 |
Several older things have once again been added to the torrent page and you'll have to visit the channel to get the url (yes, this is a long process, and yes, it is evil). Help seed if you want more, just seed a little bit if you want less, and insult random strangers if you're not really sure what you want. Now on to something completely different... If you are on irc.chatsociety.net you have to read the official page information on how to keep registered nicks/channels.

Well, as you've seen we have a new Zhentarim OP, Rayek. Who was appropriately punished for all his release failures by enlisting him to help clean up our messes. And of course I had to make this announcement to counter the 2:1 ganging up on me. So, a big "Aaaawwww, poor you!" for Rayek please ^_^
- Mentar |
| 11/26/2004 |
This post is just helping Myr in outposting Mentar, But to have something to add, Ill just say that I promise that the 4 Eva Renewal Directors Cut eps as well as Death & End of Eva v2 will be released before christmas, in opposition to our (Mentars) previous promise about 4 eva eps per week.

Our first ZX fansub is out! Shingetsutan Tsukihime 01-02 features 13 subtitle tracks for 12 languages: 2x English, Czech, Danish, French, German, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Slovenian, Spanish, Argentina-Spanish and Swedish. With a unique translation and very pretty to look at. Enjoy!

| 07/22/2004 |
The par2 archive is now complete for all of our current releases which we'll limit it to in order to keep the size down. To celebrate this great event I've added a small par2 guide to the menu explaining how it works. Currently all par2 files can be found on skizm's ftp and awelux's fserv which will hopefully make that evil zidrav program a lot less popular.
- Myrsloik |
| 07/02/2004 |
It's about time to give a lifesign again. We have another sweet release from Kintaro, who is starting Mahoromatic Second Season, with a batch of four episodes. Some more projects are nearing fruitition, so keep posted. And, of course, enjoy!
- Mentar |
| 06/07/2004 |
And some more Eva Renewal for the masses, Episodes 17-20 are released. Enjoy!
- Mentar |
| 05/28/2004 |
Since there was some interest in the par2 patch files they are now available for about 2/3 of all current releases. This includes everything in my own collection so if you want a complete archive you'll have to contribute the rest. Ask in the channel for the exact settings to use and look at awelux's fserv to see what's already been done.
- Myrsloik |
| 05/24/2004 |
We have our first non-DivX release ever! Pengvado has joined our ranks and brought along the encode of yet another Ghibli movie, "Neko no Ongaeshi" - which was soooo sweet that we couldn't resist. Don't worry though, since you don't need to change your playback at all, it will work just the same way as before. So welcome Pengvado! And ... enjoy!
- Mentar |
| 05/23/2004 |
Zhentarim has now existed for 3 years and a few more days because nobody bothered to write about it before. The event was celebrated by secretly removing the escaflowne torrent which had been up since last year. Apparently this wasn't appreciated among some and this created a storm of one email (you know who you are) that went to someone who'd never heard of the page and therefore forwarded it to me. He wanted the torrent to return.
- Myrsloik |
| 05/21/2004 |
We've had an influx of some new encoders lately who will show their stuff to the world. Starting with Kintaro, who took on the second movie of Kimagure Orange Road, "Summer's Beginning". Amazing how he managed to rescue a noisy blurry and rainbowed old source and make it almost look like digitally remastered. Don't miss this one! Enjoy!
- Mentar Time for some more news, which all ops sooo hate to write ;) ... Argento Soma is finished by werthles, all episodes are out, and the OAV on top. Kudos goes to him for yet one more series completed. Way to go, buddy! - Mentar |
| 05/14/2004 |
There's a new way to patch up to 5% corrupted releases using par2 files which are hosted by awelux. Currently there are par2 files available for about 1/3 of all releases but if it becomes more popular they'll be created for every release. You can read more about par2 on the sourceforge page. This method is also simpler than using zidrav.

After some delay caused by a broken down harddisk, here's the next installment of Eva Renewal, episodes 13-16. Enjoy!

| 05/06/2004 |
About time to get some new releases out. Danners is starting with Scryed 11-14, don't miss it. Enjoy!
- Mentar |
| 05/03/2004 |
After an enormous amount of prodding, I have finally completed a new layout for the web site. In addition to this, we have new hosting new message forums and a nice new domain name. This should prevent the periodic outtages that we've had over the last few months. You can thank Myrsloik and Mentar for making me finish it. If you have problems loading it with Mozilla 1.5, then update to 1.6, and you should be good. Oh, yeah, www.zhentarim.net - Taran'li Maren |
| 04/26/2004 |
Some more Eva Renewal for you folks. Episodes 09-12 are out. Enjoy!
- Mentar |
| 04/20/2004 |
And yet another lovely Ghibli movie encode by Yusaku, this time "I can hear the Sea". Keep the sweet R2 original encodes coming, Yusaku! Thanks alot! And everybody else, enjoy!
- Mentar |
| 04/13/2004 |
Since Mentar thinks sleeping is more important than adding news I'll have to announce the new releases. There's the Tonari no Yamada-kun Movie and Evangelion Renewal 1-8 with 5.1 audio and Big o 14-17 encoded by Yusaku, Rayek and Mentar respectively. And finally since everyone's asking what all this "renewal" stuff is it refers to the new remastered r2 evangelion dvds.
- Myrsloik |
| 03/22/2004 |
Time for anothe movie release - Ah! My Goddess Movie arrived, encoded in 5.1 HE-AAC sound glory. Even if this kind of anime happens not to match your usual taste in anime, give it a try - it's gorgeous. Enjoy!
- Mentar |
| 03/16/2004 |
Another rerip of an older series: Thanks to werthles we now have Blue Submarine as mkv release with 5.1 HE-AAC sound. Kudos to him! Enjoy!
- Mentar |
| 03/02/2004 |
It's been a long time since my last release, due to real life commitments, I haven't been able to find much time to encode, but at long last, I bring you the re-encode of scryed. The most important aspect of this encode is that it is a variable frame rate release, meaning that it allows us to leave the full 29.97fps content (notably 90% of the panning scenes) as it is and still IVTC the rest as normal. To the average viewer this means no more jerky playback :) I will be following up this release with scryed 11-18 fairly swiftly. Enjoy!
|
| 02/17/2004 |
I love Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien. Why? Because I had a bet running with Gizmotech from A-L about the ending, and I won. Sooo being the good sport he is, he encoded Escaflowne movie for us :) ... ain't that great? Make sure that you install the latest ZX playback pack, because this release uses HE-AAC for the 5.1 audio, and you need support for it. The second release is from werthles again, Mobile Suit Gundam Movie 3, completing the collection. Enjoy!
- Mentar |
| 01/24/2004 |
Two new releases, Mobile Suit Gundam Movie 2 by werthles (note the seplling) and End of Evangelion encoded from the new r2 dvds by Rayek. It also comes with 5.1 audio which can be downmixed using matrix mixer if you have less than 5.1 speakers. The script kiddies have also continued with the mirc exploits in our channel and upgrading to mirc 6.12 is suggested unless you like to get disconnected now and then.
- Myrsloik |
| 01/14/2004 |
After a christmas break, some new releases again. First of all, our mecha man werthles brought us the first Mobile Suit Gundam Movie, and the other two will follow suit. Also, we welcome a new encoder to our ranks: Yusaku, who contributed a great anamorphic encode of Kaze no Tani no Naushika. All I can say is - Enjoy!
- Mentar |
| 01/08/2004 |
Due to the recent influx of spammers that have been hitting the channel, for everyone's protection/enjoyment/sense of vengeance we're going to reinstate the channel key of z3nt4r1m for the time being. Sorry for the inconvenience this causes anyone, hopefully we will have the issue resolved in a more user friendly manner soon. Thanks.
- Fragmented_God |
| 12/14/2003 |
Oh, and before I forget - of course we have our first Matroska release. Witch Hunter Robin 01-05 by Danners. Enjoy!!
- Mentar Mentar Okay folks, time for a major announcement: ZX is switching to Matroska releases. Matroska has been under development for quite a while and finally reached a state which can be considered "mature". It's offering lots of critical new features, like Variable Framerate Encoding, Anamorphic Encoding and support for SSA and bitmap subs. To help making the switch painless, we prepared a ZX Playback Pack which you can get at the usual places. - |
| 12/03/2003 |
With the completion of Zone of the Enders: Dolores I have become a new OP on the zx scene. As always, I will be encoding as much as I usually do, so expect a good chunk of releases from me in the near future :)
- werthles |
| 11/28/2003 |
Okay - I forgot to announce Zone of the Enders: Dolores 1-13 by werthles in time. Gomen nasai, minna! The remaining episodes are already mostly done, so you can expect this series to be completed real soon. Talk about completed, Ai Yori Aoshi 21-24 is out too, meaning that this series is complete too. Enjoy!
- Mentar |
| 11/03/2003 |
And another quick release - Noir 24-26, concluding the series. Enjoy!
- Mentar And another rerelease in Hi-Quality. SpaceBall-1 overworked and completed FLCL into a very neat new full release. Don't miss it and enjoy! - Mentar |
| 11/01/2003 |
Haven't had a news update for a while, so I thought that I'd add another one :). Mahoromatic has been finished and is released today, and you can expect more releases just around the corner (final episodes of AYA, Noir, KK and a re-encode of ALL of FLCL :). Enjoy!
- Fragmented_God |
| 10/13/2003 |
Lately we've been making older releases available again, or at least that's what we think we've been doing. This is a good thing assuming you didn't follow zhentarim divx from the start AND like our encodes. You can also look forward to the complete zhentarim divx history next week (encoder time) and the final version of the 1.6.0 encoding manual (mad encoder time).
- Myrsloik |
| 09/27/2003 |
And another quick release - Noir 20-23. Will make the wait for 24-26 pretty evil. Enjoy!
- Mentar As I said last week I would have a new release ready, well here it is. Tenchi Mihoshi Special and Pretty Sammy OVA. I'd also like to announce that I have written a request bot, which allows you all to vote for old releases to be reseeded on the BitTorrent site. The trigger is '/ctcp Danners btrequest'. Get voting!
|
| 09/21/2003 |
Well after nearly 2 years of serving and encoding for Zhentarim, I have been made an Op. I will still be encoding as much as ever (real life permitting), both continuing series and starting new ones. Look out for a new one from me in a week or so ;)
- Danners |
| 09/20/2003 |
Time for some more anime - Ai Yori Aoshi 16-20, encoded with DivX5.1 - Enjoy!
- Mentar Here's an announcement from Fragmented God: Wanted to let everyone know about the newest update to the channel. We now have our very own official Patchbot. So there's no more need to ask for patches or to search for them, if you have a corrupt file (that isn't simply a torrent that hasn't completed :) send the .cdt to Fragmented_God and you will automatically receive a patch. Thanks for your continued support! :) - Mentar |
| 09/10/2003 |
It's time for some more pseudo news. Danners encoded scryed 1-5 almost a week ago but noone cared and all encoders are hiding. A (re)encode might be done soon of an unfinished series, but we won't tell you which one or when (as usual). Did you ever manage to figure out if noir 17-19 was the 99th or the 101st release or just something put there to confuse you in the last post?
- Myrsloik Made some badly needed updates to the Downloads page. - Taranli_Maren |
| 08/28/2003 |
Tsk. All of a sudden Myrsloik goes berserk and thinks he can outpost me on MY newspage. Un-friggen-believable! I had to retaliate with Noir 17-19, and we've caught up with the R1 releases now. By the way: Voices from a distant Star was the 100. ZX release. To celebrate, Danners added links to Animenfo entries to the series on our releases page, so you can find out with a single click what kind of anime we encoded. Enjoy!
- Mentar |
| 08/26/2003 |
As hinted yesterday a new encode has been released, something most of you probably didn't expect. It's voices of a distant star encoded by Shindou^^ in an odd resolutionand framerate. Read the nfo for the (not so very) exciting explanation.
- Myrsloik |
| 08/25/2003 |
In order to outupdate Mentar I've made Danners encode Arjuna 7-13 which would make some people believe the series is done. Fragmented_God released his (re)encode of blue gender without any threats and as usual you can expect more from the loyal extremist zx encoders tomorrow. Or the day after tomorrow... Or the day after that...
- Myrsloik |
| 08/18/2003 |
And some more new stuff - Cowboy Bebop Movie as a 2-CD release from ThaVin, and Noir 10-16 from me. More encodes in the queue, stay tuned. Enjoy!
- Mentar |
| 08/08/2003 |
Danners is running hot lately - new series: Earth Girl Arjuna, episodes 1-6. More stuff in the queue, coming soon! Enjoy!
- Mentar |
| 08/07/2003 |
Yet another new encoder (Gamer-X), and another release which is hailed as the best Gundam movie by animenfo.com - Char's Counter Attack. More to come soon, stay tuned. Enjoy!
- Mentar |
| 08/06/2003 |
A new encoder, a new release, a classic anime. We have our first contribution by cuisinart, and it's the first 11 episodes of Lupin the Third. Enjoy! Additionally, we need to clean up our BitTorrent site a bit and will be timing out several long-running torrents to clean up for the new stuff to come. If you want to contribute, seed some more torrents to help keep them alive! - Mentar |
| 07/29/2003 |
Too much new stuff coming out too quickly, we've got to phase our Bittorrent releases a bit. First, it's Mobile Suit Gundam time - one of the ancient genre-defining series. 42 episodes, all complete, done by werthles. And, in a few days when the bittorrent dust has cleared a bit, G Gundam 1-12 by {{|Jeff|}}, Brigadoon 6-10 by Danners and Kare Kano 17-21 by me. As you can easily see, waaaay too much. Nevertheless - Enjoy!
- Mentar |
| 07/24/2003 |
Good news for you folks, there are several new releases coming up real soon. First one to make it is Ai Yori Aoshi 11-15. Enjoy!
- Mentar |
| 07/21/2003 |
After some painful tinkering, some more Ai Yori Aoshi for you, Episodes 06-10, with more to come. Enjoy!
- Mentar |
| 07/10/2003 |
Another release from Werthles: Hack Liminality 1-2. Enjoy!
- Mentar |
| 07/06/2003 |
And another new series starts - Ai Yori Aoshi 01-05, I'll encode the rest in rapid succession once it becomes available. Enjoy!
- Mentar |
| 07/04/2003 |
And another quick release from Danners: Brigadoon 01-05. Enjoy!
- Mentar |
| 07/01/2003 |
As you've all been noticing, our BT page is temporarily down. Myrsloik is having a well-deserved vacation for a week, unfortunately his server went down. So we will have to wait for a few days before we're back up. As partial compensation for the wait, I've released Kare Kano 12-16, get it from the usual fserves and FTP servers in our channel. Enjoy!
- Mentar |
| 06/26/2003 |
As usual, when there are news after some eons, there are some more news following up immediately. Just like today. A new complete series, Tsukikage Ran, encoded by Danners. Enjoy!
- Mentar |
| 06/24/2003 |
It's once again time for some "news" even if some of it is over a month old. Kare Kano 7-11, Patlabor movie 3, Noir 1-9 and Argento Soma 6-14 has been released and all encoders are lazy as usual. There might be some encode that'll be done soon but we've almost completely lost track of everything that's being encoded (encoding can apparently in some cases take over a year and make the encoder go mad).
- Myrsloik |
| 05/15/2003 |
Today is a special day cause Zhentarim Divx exists for 2 years now. And with each birthday there are many new releases like: -FLCL 3+4, done by SpaceBall-1 -Outlaw Star 1-26, done by Danners -Vandread Second Stage 8-13 done by me All these rips can be downloaded from the ZX BT server. BT is a new way to distribute files simular to edonky or emule. You can find this server in the topic of our channel on irc. ZX will continue to rip max quality movies and will always use the latest methods to achieve this. A special thanks to all those who supported our group. Happy birthday Zhentarim ^_^ - ThaVin |
| 05/12/2003 |
Soon Zhentarim will celebrate its second birthday, on the 15th of May. You may want to come to our channel #zhentarim on irc.chatsociety.net for some nice birthday releases :)
- Mentar |

Vision of Escaflowne was released today and as usual I'm here to claim credit for Thavin's work. Other encoders think they'll have something done later this week and the news posting is also back to normal levels.

| 04/20/2003 |
Another new release today (Vandread Second stage 5-7) and a new record in updating the news page. The series will hopefully be finished soon by Thavin.
- Myrsloik |
| 04/16/2003 |
And another new series: Kare Kano (His and Her Circumstances). I've encoded 01-06 so far and will encode the rest as it becomes available on R1. Enjoy!
- Mentar |
| 04/15/2003 |
New for today is kenshin ova 2 encoded by me. Other recent releases are Himikoden 1-3 (me) and Argento Soma 1-5 (werthles). Hopefully there will be 2 other releaes this week and maybe the encoding guide will be updated soon too.
- Myrsloik |
| 03/20/2003 |
We have decided to key the channel to keep out the bottler clients. The current key will always be available in the topic '/topic #zhentarim'. Also, if I'm in irc, then the web site will have the current key (if the key changes when I'm offline, it will be updated when I re-connect). Also, you can get the key by '/ctcp Taranli_Maren key'. For your auto-join scripts. The key will change weekly.

Samurai Girl: Real Bout High School (by werthles) and Ranma Movies 1 and 2 (by Saiya) have recently been released. Sorry about the recent web site outtage, and the intermittent auto-voice script, I've been having problems with system stability. - Taranli_Maren |
| 02/17/2003 |
Myrsloik and ThaVin have been busy working on a revision of the Encoding guide, as most of you encoders have known for a while. Well, its finished. All hail the god-like "ZX Encoding Manual v1.5.0"! As before, if you notice any errors, contact an op please. Thanks for the hard work Myr.
- Taranli_Maren |
| 02/09/2003 |
Several new things today, first off, we have the last of Hellsing encoded by Myrsloik. Secondly, Myr has been made into our newest Op :) Thirdly, we have instituted a new rule disallowing Auto-Download scripts, like Bottler.

To download Banner of the stars please go to this link. You must have bittorrent installed in order to download the episodes. *link removed, outdated*. Enjoy !

| 01/29/2003 |
Slayers TV 1-26 (ThaVin), and Goldenboy 1-6 (Danners) are released today. More to come soon! I want to let everyone know about a bug we found in the chatsociety system that may prevent some of you servers from getting auto-voiced like you should. Lie thinks it has something to do with server flood protection, but it causes some of the !list responses to be blocked by the server, though only some of those that asre connected to the same irc server as the !lister. The auto-voice bot stays connected to core, so those servers also on core might not get voiced. The devs have been notified.

We've released Hellsing 7-9 by Myrsloik and all of Brain Powerd encoded by Werthles. Several other rips will be coming shortly. It looks like things are picking up speed again, particularly the channel size. We're up to 180 people now. :( Also, the Darkhold channel is doing well, glad to see so many people interested in encoding.

New releases: Lain 1-13 done in HQ divx5 by Fragmented_God Oh! My Goddess 1-5 done in HQ divx5 by Mentar_Omega Enjoy - ThaVin_Lianocen |
| 11/18/2002 |
We opened a new chat channel today for encoding and encoding related discussions, called #Darkhold. So if you have any questions about our tutorial, a new method, or anything, just stop on in and ask. This channel isn't limited to ZX encoders only, but anyone.
- Taranli_Maren |
| 11/14/2002 |
Just a quick note to inform the servers. We're initiating a /ctcp only trigger rule for fserves. The channel has been getting bigger recently and is starting to be flooded at times with people typing triggers. As the purpose of the channel is to encode and distribute HQ anime we want to ensure that everyone is able to get the anime without disrupting the atmosphere of the channel. If this applies to you, please make the change as soon as possible. Thanks :)
- Fragmented_God |
| 11/13/2002 |
I left Grave of the Fireflies off the release list last night accidently. It too is released (encoded by d3719).

Sorry its been so long since we wrote a news update, we have all been pretty busy. The chan is growing again, and we've several other things going as well (lots of new encoders). The episodes we've encoded since the last update, are as follows...Bastard 1-6, FLCL 1-2, Hellsing 4-6, Koihime 1-2, My Neighbor Totoro, Ninja Resurrection 1-2 and Silent Mobius 1-9. Encodes in progress are Ah! My Goddess, Lain, Boogiepop Phantom, Brain Powerd and Outlaw Star. Also, I'd like to thank our few translators, War_Chicken, Rapptor, Paragas, Geralt. Since I have not been keeping good track of who has been encoding what, if you all would let me know what you've done, I want to start a formal list, so you all get the recognition you deserve. Lastly, I'd like to mention that we have a new Op, XviD. Welcome to the crew! :) - Taranli_Maren |
| 10/13/2002 |
Okay, I've added some javascript that breaks out of the cjb-enforced frames, so hopefully there will not be any ads anymore. If you still see them come up occasionally, let me know. As well, in the news, we have an updated divx5/ogm playback guide (and also an updated downloads section). It was much in need of an update. In the release news, we have Jeff's first encode, FLCL ep 1. Hopefully more will follow soon :) ThaVin has released the full Crest of the Stars, and if its not been anounced, we have Armitage Poly-Matrix, encoded by Mentar. Soon to come, Hellsing 4-6 and Ninja Resurrection.
- Taranli_Maren |
| 10/10/2002 |
As those of you using the zhentarim.cjb.net domain may notice, cjb decided to become a bitch, and require cloaking for all non-paying domains. Also, with this they put popup ads on all cloaked pages. As a result, we're thinking about registering a real domain for the site. But until then, if the ads bother you, you can use the http://zhentairm.caeli.cjb.net:1301/ url, and the ads will not show up (full dns redirect, no cloaking, though requires the port number). In any case, the zhentarim.cjb.net address should always work.

Today Harlock Saga has been Re-released by Xvid, and Zone of the Enders: Idolo has been released by me. More to come soon. Enjoy the new releases.

Mezzo Forte has been encoded by XviD (R1 dvd so it's pre-cut) and has been released. Enjoy :). Other encodes are on their way, people have been busy recently (I just started university) and will be released 'soon'. Any feedback, please use the forum.
- Fragmented_God |
| 09/03/2002 |
Today Fragmented_God has released Spirited Away, and TheVin released the Record of the Lodoss War OVA bout a week or so ago. In the works, Berserk, Lain, Street Fighter II, Mezzo Forte, Trigun, Love Hina Again and Love Hina. We also have several new translations, some Spanish from Rapptor, and some French from DarkaMikachu.

Metropolis is finally released after too much delay. Sorry about that, I hope you enjoy the movie. I'm working on Lain and will encode Spirited Away as soon as I have the dvd (and have watched it :). Please post feedback on the forum.

New releases for you people, Hellsing 1-3 done by Taranli_Maren. Zhentarim has a new message board for you people who dont like to talk on irc. People who always wanted to mux ogm in graphedit can now find the info in the divx encoding guide 1.3. And yes, my nickname has changed a bit =). - ThaVin_Lianocen |
| 08/15/2002 |
Big news today. As many of you know, DALnet has been really unstable for the last two weeks. Its gotten to the point where we just have to leave. So we've gone ahead and moved the entire channel to irc.chatsociety.net. Chatsociety is a small and stable server that will hopefully be a great home for us. The DALnet channel will remain open, but moderated. In other news, Rap_ptor has been incredibly active translating various animes into spanish. Hes so far translated Jin-Roh, and several eps of Cowboy Bebop. With War_Chicken, Shadow_Dancer and now Rap_ptor, we're really starting to get the spanish anime crowd. Huzzah! - Taranli_Maren |
| 08/11/2002 |
The zx encoding manual 1.2.1 is out. It now has a chapter that explains how to convert old subpacks to ogm format.
- ThaVin |
| 08/05/2002 |
D4nn3rs has done Blood The Last Vampire for zhentarim. Its a must see movie. Enjoy.
- ThaVin |
| 08/02/2002 |
I'd like to welcome the newest Zhent to our ranks, Fragmented_God. Those of you in the channel know how much he deserved Ops. We also have some new rips to announce, Armitage Dual-Matrix and Blue Gender 1-6. We have in the works Armitage: Poly-Matrix, Legend of Crystania, Lodoss OVA and TV series', Utena and Trigun. Lastly, ThaVin did some updates to the Encoding guide. It now contains a section on Hardsubbing, and a section on OGM Demuxing. - Taranli_Maren |
| 07/24/2002 |
This short news article is to point your attention to the two new additions to the FAQ menu. ThaVin has been working hard, and has given us Not only a set of IRC guides (connection, leeching, and fserve sections) but a divx5 encoding guide as well! Check them out.
- Taranli_Maren |
| 07/18/2002 |
Its been a while since I did a news article. Things have been somewhat quiet, we've had some problem with our dump system, but things are smoothing out. The recent rips include Spriggan by ThaVin, Kenshin OVA, and the rest of Vandread by Fragmented_God, Please Save My Earth 1-3 by Crazie2k1 Blue Seed 7-9 by Saiya and all of Tenchi Universe by Mentar. In the works, there is Silent Mobius, Blue Gender, Utena, Key the Metal Idol, Wings of Honnemise and Hand Maid May.
- Taranli_Maren |
| 06/19/2002 |
There have been several things going on lately, first, our main dump is down for a while. To maintain a lower profile with the company that is hosting it. It will hopefully be back in a couple of weeks or a month. Also, my ISP has decided to block port 80, so I had to move the web server to port 1301, I suppose if you are reading this, then you probably figured it out already. I set the zhentarim.cjb.net redirect to point to the correct port, so people can still access. As for the latest ripping news, we have Blue Seed 7-9 by Saiya, Ninja Scroll by Fragmented_God (with spanish subs tranlated by War_Chicken!!!), Wicked City encoded by ThaVin. We will have PSME 1-2 up and ready real soon, today or tomorrow probably. I'm slowly getting Hand Maid May done. Mentar mentioned that the Tenchi Universe is nearly done as well. - Taranli_Maren |
| 06/04/2002 |
Well this week we have some new releases for you including Berserk 1-5 by Taranli, Blue Seed 1-6 by me, and Vandread 8-10 by Fragmented_god. Enjoy all the New releases, expect lots more to come.
- Saiya-sla |
| 05/26/2002 |
We have been sort of taking it easy since the birthday push, so we only have two releases this week, Jin-Roh (by me) and Gunbusters (by Bramblez). I am actively working on Niea Under 7, and Mentar is continuing work on Tenchi Universe, and Utena, Hopefully we'll have a couple of good series' ready for you next weekend. - Taranli_Maren |
| 05/15/2002 |
Well, as many of you know, today (or very soon to be today) is Zhentarim DivX's 1 year anniversary. Instead of talking about our past, I'm goig to talk about our present and future direction. There is a wide consesus on the channel, and among us Ops, that the channel has reached just about the right size. We average 50 people, and more importantly than that number, I'm happy to say that often more than 50% of the people are active in chat and distrobution. If you think about that, its really an incredibly statistic. Channels 5 times our size often only have twice the number of servers as we do, and commonly have significantly less conversation. I for one am very glad that #zhentarim is not a leech only channel. In the year to come, I hope to get most of our current encodes re-done with the newest technology, and dozens more series' added to our growing list. Actually, given the current progression, I'll wager that we will overflow our distro system in less than 6 months. In the last few months we've had a flood of people who have been contributing encodes. And to this point, I'll announce the new rips we have available today. Mentar has encoded all of Big O and the Ah! My Goddess Movie. Saiya-sla has encoded Street Fighter Alpha and both the Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz movie and OVA. Fragmented_God has contributed his first rip, Vandread 1-7. Witeshade has re-encoded Akira with divx5/ogm. I have Battle Athletes Victory as well as Ghost in the Shell. And the older (though unannounced) rips, Mentar and I together have re-ripped all of Neon Genesis Evangelion, ThaVin has the rest of Cowboy Bebop done, Mentar as well has re-encoded Princess Mononoke. I realize that this is a rather large number of new rips, so we've been looking for other servers from other channels to host some of these files for just today. Mrw- from tB is contributing by hosting some, Mach1 is hosting Ghost in the Shell, Gundam Wing and Street Fighter Alpha. There were several others who agreed to host, who we've either not been able to contact, or send files to, who may pop up later in the day. Also, many of our dedicated servers will be hosting some of the new rips (Myrsloik, erikinfallible, Fragmented_God, Jeff). I'm sure I'm forgetting some, but its late and I can't think clearly. Thanks to all of you! We couldn't do it without you! - Taranli_Maren |
| 04/26/2002 |
We have many new releases for you today, Street Fighter Alpha movie by Saiya, a Princess Mononoke re-rip by Mentar, Akira by Witeshade, and Cowboy Bebop 1-10 by ThaVin. Mentar and I have decided on settings for the Evangelion re-rip, and have started, so they should hopefully come out pretty quickly. I believe Saiya is working on Gasaraki, and ThaVin is blazing through Bebop. I ordered a new hd myself, so will actually have more space to rip with in a short time (finally:).
- Taranli_Maren |
| 04/20/2002 |
Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 has been finished, episodes 22-26 are divx5/ogm. Also, we have a re-encoded Eatman 12, there was a problem with the last encode.
- Taranli_Maren |
| 04/16/2002 |
Eatman '98 is finally completed. I have decided that next I am going to try encoding Street Fighter Alpha in a muxed ogg file. Later
- saiya-sla |
| 04/12/2002 |
Well, I am almost finished with encoding Eatman '98 only two more episodes to go. After this I am planning to do either Trigun, Street Fighter Alpha or Gundam Endless Waltz. Please tell me in the channel what you would like to see ripped most, Thanks Bye.
- saiya-sla |
| 04/09/2002 |
New rips, we have all three Tenchi Movies, Tenchi Universe 1-2 and Bubblegum Crash 1-3 all encoded with divx5, muxed in ogm by Mentar (check out the divx5/ogm faq in the menu at the top for instructions). Also Evangelion 13-15 encoded divx3 with ogm by me. In the works we have more Eva, EatMan and Tenchi Universe, the last of Bubblegum Crisis 2040, Akira, Battle Angel and possibly Blue Gender.
- Taranli_Maren |

In recent news, t3sture suprassed the rank of "generally badass" to "total badass" and can now add news on the /ctcp. And now, here'd Don with the weather. (p.s. this is a test of maren's bot) (If you can't tell, he was *really* drunk ;) - TM)
- t3sture |
| 03/24/2002 |
I've posted some ms paint images done by majin and scyta1e. I thought they were hilarious, so check them out. Releases since the last update, Eat-Man '98 1-6 and Miyu 4-6. We have several more eps done, but are working on new methods, including divx5, ogg, vorbis, and certain video filters (smoothers and stabilizers). As a result, we're kind of in limbo, not wanting to make a release that will be outdated in a month. Bear with us in this transition, and the methods we end up with will be easier to use and prettier. - Taranli_Maren |
| 03/09/2002 |
I have done some updating on the site design lately, making the code easier to update, and more compact. I am also in the process of integrating the web site updates into an IRC bot, so maybe we'll see more regular updates from other people as well soon. Other than that, we have new rips, including Black Heaven 11-13, Wrath of the Ninja, Evangelion 10-12, Bastard 1-6 and Gate Keepers 1-6. We are working on the rest of Eva, Vampire Princess Miyu 4-7, Tenchi Universe, Blue Sub 6, and Eatman '98.
- Taranli_Maren |
| 03/01/2002 |
As you may or may not have noticed, we have been forced to move our web site. f2s finally got around to deleting all of the free sites, not that I really blame them. Right now we are hosted on my personal connection, so don't complain about the speed, or occasional lack of accessibility. Mind you, this is a temporary condition, until we find a better, semi permanent place to put it. On the positive side, our hit counter works properly again. Heh. - Taran'li Maren |
| 02/04/2002 |
Mentar brought us a whole shit load of crack today. In no particular order, Tenchi Muyo OAV, Macross 2 and Bubblegum Crisis 2033 (all complete series'). Also, 4-10 of Black Heaven are done. The subtitle packs for Video Girl Ai have also been fixed. Contact an op if you are serving them, so we can get them to you.
- Taran'li Maren |
| 01/25/2002 |
We released Video Girl Ai 1-6 (that's all of it) a couple days ago. I should have Black Heaven 4-6 done real soon, and Saiya-Slay-Narf is almost done with Bastard.
- Taran'li Maren |
| 01/19/2002 |
I've released Black Heaven 1-3, and put up the nfo for Robotech 10-12. All of Robotech: Macross Saga is actually ripped (1-36), and released, I've just not got all of it downloaded, so I can put split nfos up on the web site here.
- Taran'li Maren |
| 01/17/2002 |
Robotech 1-9, encoded by Mentar, is now released officially, with much more to come as we get the nfos done (I'm being anal and splitting a series wide nfo into 3 ep parts). I'd like to thank Mentar for all the help that hes given us so far. Hes been the most active member of our group for about a month or so now. Although he didn't accept Ops, I'd like you all to treat him as such. Upcoming rips include the first installment of Black Heaven, which should be ready in a day or two, Princess Mononoke, and the rest of Robotech (which is actually mostly done already). - Taran'li Maren |
| 01/10/2002 |
The rest of Escaflowne is released, as well as Evangelion 4-6.
- Taran'li Maren |
| 12/23/2001 |
All of Macross Plus is released, as is Evangelion 1-3 and 7-9. The subpacks for 4-6 were faulty, so will have to be remade. Xyzop who was encoding those seems to have disappeared, so I will be doing them myself. Though I will finish Escaflowne first (its my next encode, I promise, ALL the rest). We are in dire need of regular servers to host our rips. We offer dump access, or at least will send you all the files to serve if you choose to. Contact an Op if you're interested. - Taran'li Maren |
| 12/04/2001 |
I'd like to announce a new member to our fine organization, SideSlide. BEWARE. As for the current rips, Macross Plus 1-3 are encoded, but not served anywhere that I know of, as is Evangelion 1-12, 16-18. The unreleased rips of Escaflowne 22-23 have been recalled due to a bad rip of the audio. Bad me for not catching it. No new rips are planned as of yet (that I am aware of at least). - Taran'li Maren |
| 11/24/2001 |
Well, I've got my computer back online. I'm serving again (w00tw00t!!!) and you'll be seeing much more of me (up to you whether that's good or bad hehe). Anyway, good to be back.
- t3sture |
| 10/27/2001 |
I'm sorry for the lack of updates here, but I've been busy. I'm employed now, so don't find as much time for things like this. Anyways, despite the lack of web site updates, we do have many new rips... First off, Harlock Saga encoded by Crazie2K1, then Slayers Book of Spells encoded by ThaVin, and Escaflowne 19-21, and Vampire Princess Miyu TV 1-3 encoded by me. In the works, we have the last bit of Escaflowne, Macross Plus, and Neon Genesis Evangelion. I'd like to take time here to thank all of our dedicated servers. Without them, this channel would be *nothing*. - Taran'li Maren |
| 09/06/2001 |
Armitage III OAV 3-4 have been finished and are available on my ftp. I'm currently uploading them to mellow, who will host them as well. Still thinking about what to encode next. Any suggestions are welcome. - Taran'li Maren |
| 09/04/2001 |
I've got 2 new releases to mention here. The first, Armitage III OAV 01-02, I released a few days ago. And today I just released the next installment of the Vision of Escaflowne, 16-18. I should have the rest of Escaflowne done in the next few days. The comic store I rent from still doesn't have the last Bubblegum Crisis DVD, but they assure me that it IS on order. Also today I finished posting episode 20 of Bubblegum Crisis on alt.binaries.multimedia.anime. I may post one of my other rips there soon, probably Armitage if I do it at all. - Taran'li Maren |
| 08/25/2001 |
After a long period of inactivity, I'm resuming posting of the Bubblegum Crisis, with the assistance of Jackie Chun. We'll be starting with episode 12 sometime in the next few days. He'll post the first few, and I'll be posting the rest. Jackie Chun will be doing all the fills. I probably wouldn't be doing this if not for Jackie Chun's help, so everyone thank him.
- Taran'li Maren |
| 07/31/2001 |
I just did a large update to the web site today. Added a small download section (for tools only, sorry) and made a menu link to the new Lore section. Its small now, but hopefully will grow. Also, I rewrote much of the web update forms, which will make it easier for us Ops. In other news, I'm still posting to the newsgroups. I'm almost finished posting episode 11 right now. - Taran'li Maren |
| 07/22/2001 |
The last of Serial Experiments Lain is available on my ftp now, thats 11-13. Also, I'm continuing to post the Bubblegum Crisis on alt.binaries.multimedia.anime, I'm up to episode 7 now. - Taran'li Maren |
| 07/16/2001 |
A new message board is up which shouldn't have issues and looks cleaner. sorry to the ppl who already regged their nicks on the old board. The link the the message board stays the same (www.zxboard.f2s.com)
- ThaVin |
| 07/15/2001 |
I posted the first Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 episode on alt.binaries.multimedia.anime today. If I get much of a response from this, I'll make it a regular thing. If you need help getting on usenet, we can help you in the channel, or you can contact one of us in the message boards. Also, Lain 8-10 are done. They're on my ftp now.
- Taran'li Maren |
| 07/12/2001 |
I updated the header code a bit today. Made it more reliable, and more cross-browser compatible. Also added the first of (hopefully) several pages about Faerun. This one is about the Zhentarim (good place to start I thought) and is HERE. This is not original content, its actually copied from a soucebook I have, but that just means its reliable information ;) I'll also get around to updating the news and release update forms real soon. they nee some reworking also. No new rips just yet, though I have started on the next Lain.
- Taran'li Maren |
| 07/08/2001 |
A new popup,ad free and faster message board for Zhentarim is in place. So go to www.zxboard.f2s.com and register your nick :) Do edit your profile after your register, cause the default values are a bit screwed up. - ThaVin |
| 06/28/2001 |
We currently have two new releases available on my ftp, Lain 1-7, with the rest to come as soon as I get some HD space, or people to host it. On the downside, I've been klined from Dal.net for the last 4 or 5 days. Nothing *I* did, but that doesn't really matter to THEM does it? I've yet to recieve a response from them, and am looking for other ways of getting back in the channel. My ftp is still active btw. Ask one of the Ops for ip information if you don't know already.
- Taran'li Maren |
| 06/24/2001 |
Well kids, so far the channel is doing well. However, we could always use new servers. Remember that just because you're not connected to some insane bandwidth doesn't mean the channel won't very much appreciate your contribution. Also keep in mind that you don't have to just serve Zhentarim releases. Serve anything you like. Good luck to you all and I'll see you soon in the channel ;)
- t3sture |
| 06/21/2001 |
How if we send it to you automatically our new rips into your freeloader account on streamload (but since there some limitation on freeloader account, you have to make several accounts). If you interested in this... tell any ops about this (or some other idea).
- mango-boy We have some new releases for you guys in the channel, including Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 13-20. I'm starting work on Serial Experiments Lain, so hopefully we'll have that series done in a week. Then I'll see if I can get ahold of the last of the BGC and Escaflowne dvds to finish up those series'. We do need your opinions about hosting options. In addition to the streamload, we've been thinking about using Yahoo or Freedrive, and possibly posting them to usenet. Post your thoughts in the message board. Lastly, please welcome t3sture as the newest member of Zhentarim DivX. - Taran'li Maren |
| 06/18/2001 |
Well, its been a while, but things are just about ready to go public. Not much has changed with the web site, but I've been working on a nice bot for the channel, and I've got many releases available for download, even now.
- Taran'li Maren |
| 06/07/2001 |
Not much news for a while, sorry. I've coded the pull down menus, and tweaked the other stuff. I'm still looking for a PHP compatible web host, but can't seem to find one thats fast, free, and not set up like shit. Well, the quest continues. I really hope to get this page out there real soon!
- Taran'li Maren |
| 05/26/2001 |
I finished my web update forms. Theres one for news updates, one for releases, and one for adding users. It's rudimentary currently, and some features are missing, but the news and user forms work perfectly. Admins can access them HERE.
- Taran'li Maren |

I just finished writing a tutorial for encoding DVDs with Nandub. If you're interested in it, get it HERE.

Still struggling with the header, but we have a name, channel and forums. I've also got a bot scripted, which I'll transfer over to my polaris once we go public. Things I'm planning, a poll system, online news update and release forms, and pull-down menus (4 wasn't going to be enough).

Initial pages coded. No menus, no name, no message board, no channel. Just the basic format, which is by no means decided upon, and projected releases.
